Hey all! I caught the writing bug so I decided to write a story on non other than our boys of 2AM! I have never written a story on them before so this is very new to me so bear with me when it comes to reading.
DISCLAIMER wise (LOL) this story will be a little bit different from what you usually read. Our boys will be in fact best friends but they are not singers or celebrities. They are mere high school students who live high school lives and have high school drama like all of us. The female characters will be made up so… sorry no Adam Couple or 2AM/BEG love here. None of this revolves around K-pop.
Other than that, feel free to read and enjoy the story… Comments are great!
Chapter 1
What was high school like for you? Do you remember what your high school life was like? Or if you’re in high school now, you know what it’s like right? You wake up, get ready, go to school, deal with the drama on who is liking who on top of trying to learn (or not learn) in class; then go home and procrastinate when you really should be doing your homework.
Well, that was Kim Jin Hee’s life. Jin Hee was your typical teen. She wasn’t popular, but she was well known for being one of team players for her school’s varsity basketball team. A studious individual, she was considered a ‘cool nerd,’ having to be able to balance both her studies and basketball very well.
Jin Hee proceeded on her way to school, when she ran into her best friends, Lee Ji Yeon and Shin Seung Ah. Both girls were on the high school step team and all three have known each other since forever.
“Jin Hee!” They both yelled.
She waved at the both of them, “Hey! What’s up? Have a good weekend?”
“We would have told you our weekend if you would have picked up your phone last night,” Ji Yeon said, “Where were you anyway?”
“Studying…”
“Of course” Seung Ah said.
The three of them then entered the doors to their high school, Seongji High School.
Once they got settled, they went to meet up with Ji Yeon’s boyfriend Jinwoon and his friends. Jung Jinwoon, Lee Changmin, Im Seulong, and Jo Kwon were the popular boys of the school. All four of them were on the boy’s varsity basketball team, Kwon, being the captain of the team. He was also believed to be dating Choi Jin Ah, captain of the cheerleading squad, who also happened to be there with the boys, along with her friends.
Ji Yeon immediately went to Jinwoon, giving him a hug.
“Hey sweetie” she said.
“Hey yourself” he replied followed by a peck on the lips. Seung Ah and Jin Hee started to make gagging noises, teasing the couple.
“Oh stop it, you haters,” Ji Yeon then said.
“Hey ladies, how was everything? Enjoyed your weekend?” Changmin asked.
“Yep oppa! Just hung around all weekend, did some shopping here and there,” Seung Ah said.
“I studied,” Jin Hee replied.
“Again? Geez girl, you need to get out more… Don’t worry, next weekend, I got you,” Seulong said. Jin Hee just shook her head in response.
“Jin Hee, are you ready for the game tonight?” Kwon asked.
“Yeah, I should be okay.”
“Oh yeah, she’s more than ready! She’s gonna dribble and fake and steal and pass and shoot and--” Seung Ah started.
“I think… they got it” Jin Hee said.
“Okay, it’s getting a little TOO crowded here… Kwonnie oppa, I’m gonna go. I’ll see you at the game later,” Jin Ah said hugging him.
“Alright, I’ll see you later,” he said.
Jin Ah and her friends gave Jin Hee and the girls a glaring look and walked away.
The bell rang and everyone got ready to go their separate ways.
“I’ll see you guys later. Jin Hee, good luck on the game tonight. Kick butt,” Kwon said.
The morning went by pretty quickly, next thing you know it was lunchtime. The girls always met up the first twenty minutes then Ji Yeon would break off to be with Jinwoon.
Seung Ah and Jin Hee met at the lunchroom, waiting for Ji Yeon as usual. A minute later, she stopped by.
“Nice of you to join us!” Seung Ah said.
“Sorry, it was a butt getting here.” Ji Yeon replied.
“More like she had a pit stop on the way… *ahemJinwoonahem*” Jin Hee added.
Ji Yeon pushed Jin Hee inside the cafeteria as Seung Ah laughed along. Just then, Jin Hee accidentally bumped into Jin Ah.
“Oh… Sorry Jin Ah.” Jin Hee said, bowing.
She sneered. “You better be… watch where you’re going next time…”
“Whoa whoa, yah she said sorry! What’s with the attitude?” Seung Ah said.
“Like I need to tell you! She was in my way! She should have been watching where she was going!”
“Sorry… I’ll look next time…” Jin Hee said.
“Jin Hee…” Ji Yeon started.
“No, no she’s right, I should have been watching where I was going…”
“Damn straight… and stay away from Kwon… I saw how you were looking at him…”
Jin Hee looked at her surprised. “Wha- What? When… how did I…? What?”
“You know what Jin Ah… I have just about had it with you…” Seung Ah said.
“Yah! What are you going to do about it?!”
“Why you little--”
Seung Ah was about to start something but Jin Hee stopped her.
“Seung Ah… just let her be… yah… Choi Jin Ah… you can have Kwon… I don’t like him nor know him like that.”
“Tch! Whatever…” she said walking away.
“Yah… Shin Seung Ah… you want to get expelled?!” Jin Hee asked.
“She was on my bad side… and YOU need to stand up for yourself when it comes to her!”
“What?! It was my fault…”
“Seung Ah has a point, because 1. It wasn’t your fault… 2. Kwon and her are NOT together… and 3. She’s been on your case and hating on you for no reason since we’ve been kids… Now I don’t know what her problem is, but you can’t let her step on you anymore…”
“Guys, thanks for the support and everything… but I can handle Jin Ah… she’s just looking for attention and I’m not giving it to her… just ignore her…”
“Aish… this girl…” Seung Ah said.
“Save it! I’ll be fine...”
The girls just let the subject go. They got their lunch and ate together, before Ji Yeon separated to go meet Jinwoon.
Classes came to an end and Jin Hee quickly went to practice.
Practice was getting intense. Since the game was that night they were focusing really hard on plays.
“Come on ladies, don’t get tired out there… you wanna win don’t you?”
One of the players passed the ball to Jin Hee, ready to make a shot for the basket.
******************
(at the game)
The ball went in scoring another two points for the opposite team. Seongji High was losing by 2 points now and it was already the 2nd half of the game. The coach was already stressed out and all her star players were exhausted.
“Jin Hee, you’re in” she said.
Jin Hee looked up. “Me coach?”
“Do you see another Jin Hee? Get in there and play your hardest.”
Jin Hee immediately got up and checked in while the coach called substitution.
Meanwhile, on courtside, Ji Yeon and Seung Ah saw that Jin Hee was checking in to play. In the bleachers, Jinwoon, Seulong, and Changmin cheered on for the game. Just as the time out ended, Kwon met up with them and took a seat.
“Sorry guys, had to help the mom out with some errands… what did I miss?”
“We’re down by two… they just checked in Jin Hee,” Seulong said.
“Nice… I have a good feeling about this one,” he said.
“I dunno. The past few games, she hasn’t been fully in it. Her three point shots have been really off,” Changmin said.
“I’m sure she’ll be fine,” Kwon said smiling.
Back to the game, Jin Hee was busy blocking one player when she ran to get open. Her teammate passed her the ball but she didn’t have a clear shot so she passed it back. The teammate passed the ball again to her signaling her to make the shot. Having no choice, she made the shot. The ball hit the backboard, balanced on the rim for a bit, but didn’t go in, causing them to lose the game.
Jin Hee feeling devastated on what happened, fell on her knees and slumped. Her teammates, as devastated as they were, they tried to cheer her up.
“It’s cool Jin Hee, we’ll do better next time.” One player said.
“Yeah, don’t worry, just more practice.” Another said.
Jin Hee didn’t even bother to say anything. She really felt like it was her fault that they lost the game. She just walked into the changing room, her teammates following her.
Ji Yeon and Seung Ah tried to cheer Jin Hee up by walking home together, but that didn’t work either. She said her goodbyes to her friends and went in the house.
“Oh you’re home! How was the game?” her mom asked.
“We lost… all thanks to me” Jin Hee replied, emotionless.
“Aww… don’t be so hard on yourself, you win some you lose some. Are you hungry? I’ll heat up something for you.”
“It’s okay Omma, I’m just going to practice shooting around outside in the front yard for a little bit before doing homework.”
Her mom just smiled and left her alone. Jin Hee took her basketball and went outside to practice her shooting.
Every shot she made did not even go in, making her even more frustrated. She kept shooting, missing every shot. Taking her anger out on the ball she threw it, where it hit the garage door, letting it roll away. Jin Hee on the other hand, sat down on the side to regain her thoughts.
Once she calmed down, she got up to retrieve her ball, only to find out that she wasn’t alone. There stood, Kwon, with her basketball in his hands.
A/N: I know of basketball and the gist of it… but I’m not like super expert so if I get some terminology wrong… don’t shoot me… I hope this chapter didn’t bore you… and enjoy!
