hm..regarding the issue with 2AM brother..I believe all the struggles that our boys did..will bring our boys stronger and make them appreciate every little thing that they have right now. Yes, 2AM didn't be big since their debut, but surely they build and made their own way.. really proud of 2AM !

@twilightelusion:: I would think that internationally, 2PM gained more popularity. Why? Because they are a dance group, which easily attract more people at first. For our boys, since they sing ballads, which makes lyrics meaning more important, so it's harder for them to gain attention from fans.. i mean it's foreign language, we need time to be able to feel it ^^..
But, after you get to know them more, the ballad will stick in your head for a much longer time than dancing (except for MJ ^^)...

fai I'm not denying 2PM of their popularity internationally, I know they are famous. But like you said, we don't know the language so we are dependent on portals that write in English for the latest happenings in Korean entertainment. There are a lot of things that we might be led into thinking which might not be the case. Because well, if I want to attract more people to read, I'm definitely only going to report the good stuff about the people with bigger fan bases right? Plus I just wanted to point out that it's prob an indication that 2AM is more well-liked by the domestic market (Korea) than we think. Even if we do not want to do a comparison but the constant idea we get is that 2PM might be more popular than 2AM in Korea. I just found it interesting that 2PM isn't in many categories in this year's MelOn. It's strange isn't it? Yet, awards that allow international fans to vote (like the dear MAMA) had 2PM very high on the ranking. ANYWAY~ I think 2AM needs more noona/ahjumma fans! to have it out with SNSD's ahjussi fans~ ^^ The image that came into my head is quite funny. Imagine a couple both in their 30s, the hubby likes SNSD and the wife likes 2AM and because the hubby voted for SNSD, the wife refused to cook for the hubby. But then the hubby found out that his wife has been voting for 2AM. Then they get into a fight. Then~ The wife says to the husband, "FINE, since you like them so much, sing the part of the girl that you like most. If you manage to then I'd cook for you and never mention 2AM again." SILENCE. The wife walks away triumphantly, humming "You Wouldn't Answer My Call". That was just for laughs. I imagined that in my head and I really thought it's funny. I might sound I'm an anti-SNSD, i'm not. I hum their songs too, i even showed their Gee MV to my students when I was still teaching (then I showed the parody from Invincible Challenge to illustrate what a parody was). 2010 is the turning point for 2AM. I mean ask yourself, how many of you are IAM from day 1 of 2AM debut? I don't think many of us can say that. I can't. But more and more will come to know of them, for sure.

@twilightelusion: yes, totally agree about 2AM might be more popular than 2PM domestically. However, as international news portals, I think they would choose what easier to attract readers' attention first, that's why all the dance groups. After that, they would explore other news. Another case would be BEGs, as we all know, seems like they are respected in the industry, but had they not have Abracadabra, would they be big hit internationally? I think not. Though now that I listened their past albums, Abracadabra definitely my least favourite song of them since it doesn't showcase their voice at all.
Also, i remembered that Kwon said in KJE's chocolate once, they now target older audience like 30+ (more business like) base on their outfit? I think that's the right target for ballad these days, though for me, i've been listening to ballad only since i was a kid(don't like dance music much). So yeah, they will get more and more older fans ^^..
Anyways, 2010 is AM's year, it's a big turn for them and I am glad that i've come to know these boys, they are truly talented.
LOLs @your scenario.. just imagine a ajusshi sing "Gee, Gee, Gee" haha

CONGRATULATIONS 2AM... i still have a tiny hope in Korea award shows after last week @twilightelusion..i think domestically people still are bitter after what had happened last year, international fans could give you a second chance but that's it... even with their debut we all know 2PM was given everything, great concept followed by cool hairdos and outfits, a great first video; this will attract people since it plays with our visuals... they did a lot of variety and later were even given their own shows, that factor accompanied by their great scandal last year made them easily more recognizable to international fans.. we all love scandals but apparently not Koreans hehe 2AM... no concept no cool hairstyle or outfits, an MV about them crying and suffering is not going to attract people from the get go.. even with their debut performance JYP wanted them to look poor and didnt give them a "stage" outfit... they havent been promoted as heavily as their brothers, so it will be harder for international fans to get to know them... but now its different, 2AM are getting more recognize... i mean did you hear the screams for them at MAMA, the fans were louder for them than the idols that did show up there are a lot of people who say things like 2AM cant dance, so that means they arent as good or talented as 2PM...what i like to say to that is give both groups a month heck even a year to do what the other is currently doing on stage... then have 2AM sing and dance to I'll Be There and 2PM sing YWAMC or Like Crazy...who will do a better job?

goofWhat? Really? People say 2AM cannot dance? And that same people say PM can dance? Then those people are b-l-i-n-d. People say 2AM is not as talented as PM? Those people should look up the word "talented " in the dictionary before they said that. 2AM is much, much, MUCH more talented. A thousand times, even a billion times more talented that the aforementioned group. 2010 is all about 2AM. 2AM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

I believe 2AM can dance. There are many videos in YouTube to support this argument. But again, since their main priority is singing balld, they don't really show off their dance. It will be weird if the dance happily through their sad song. I also believe, a lot of us don't understand about the lyrics and stuff. But we are simply hooked because the emotion of the song reach us. I listen to many ballad singer, but never like any of them. my personal opinion, everyone can be a singer, but not everyone can be GOOD singer. And good singer means, you have to put your emotion in the song. So people will feel in an instance whether it's a sad/happy song.

faiThat's exactly what I'm getting at - they choose what they want to report on. What will attract MOST people, what will create the MOST controversies. Then, from choose what to report on, they can also choose the content and can manipulate our way of thinking as well. And more often than not, we don't verify these news. They say that it's from newsen or some other korean portals that we are familiar with and we take it as that's the source because even if I clicked on it, I might not or won't know what it's saying since it's in korean. And it's not a matter of dance groups or not. If you look at the general trend of some of these popular news portals, they tend to focus on certain groups/companies, usually the bigger, more well-known ones. Look at GaIn's solo album publicity/news report versus 2PM (only because they came out at ard the same time) and it's not difficult to note that who got more notice. Maybe GaIn's genre is something very different and not familiar, but does that mean it should NOT be reported? Why is it that when GaIn won Inki, everyone was so surprised, including the artistes themselves? It raised questions for the first time on the fairness of these weekly ranking. (speaking of which, I must say the Adam + extended family members really started this questioning phenomenon. It used to be that people seemed to just accept it but because the good ones are being neglected or not recognized, it raised real questions) goofDomestic fans are still bitter about what happened last year? I'm assuming you are talking about Jay Park right? Who are they bitter against? If they are against Jay, and they should be since he was said to have been disrespectful towards Korea, then shouldn't the domestic market be more supportive of 2PM? But it would seem that that's not really the case here is it? Why do you think that is so? International fans are kinder? maybe. I don't know, I feel that there is a information gap somewhere. If we really want to explore the conspiracy theory, we could. But let's not go there. Trust me. It's a can of worms that we are not prepared to swallow. I would say this again as a parting shot (heehee ^^): We look at the superficial, like rankings and awards as testimonial to our idols' success. Let me ask you one very simple question: in 5 years' time, what will you remember of your idols? How many awards they have won? How many #1s they've got? Or would you remember that fantastic song that you can never get out of your system? Did you listen to 2AM because they won a lot of awards? I believe for most of us, if not all, that's not the case because these boys have never won many awards before. Which is why I believe every single tear they shed or control when they win. Because that's the amt of thankfulness/gratefulness they have for winning. And it's beautiful every single time. Whether 2AM emerge as winners of the various categories, know this: they have come a long way. Even if it's 2nd, it's better than NOTHING. And I believe they would take that and work even harder to get to the place they deserve - #1 cos they paid with their sweat, blood and sheer determination. Talent, without hardwork, is like an unplanted seed. Hardwork, without talent, is like planting coconut in a rice field. No matter what, you need both to enjoy a bountiful life. 2AM planted and waited patiently for 2years. Now it's harvest time.

IAMs let me share my thought, from one year watching them REALLY i never thought they are really this popular. i always think many popular group, no ballads like SUJU, 2NE1 even 2PM are more popular then them. so i was like where are other popular groups?. 2AM always less translation, less voter than them. i don't care with SNSD, but surprising me that our boys is no 2 for all votes this year after snsd. 2am has most digital download so we have a chance hehehe. HEY AWARDS not equal with many times you won TV gayo chart right!!!. hehehe 2AM fighting

" Exactly what I was thinking bout~ i think korean has a different thought about what we call with talented. i think when 2AM debuted in Country where Voice is the most important thing as singer they will recognized first. but i think JYPE is so smart. most boygroups have 3 categorized member : who can only sing, only can dance and can't do both sing and dance ( usually because they are handsome ). the reason i like one day ( 2AM & 2PM ), 2PM even not really good @ singing ( Junsu has best voice, Junho&Woo young have stable vocal now, the rest are develop every time they released the album ) all of them dance really well . 2AM don't mention them ;D.

EDIT bells2amThe voting is limited only to Koreans. International fans can't vote. c0n3ll0MBC, MBC Game is broadcasting it, I think. Check the other article on Melon in this board to see the other stations broadcasting it.
Personally, the fact that the boys are second is already a GREAT improvement from last year. I believe this is only the beginning. The no. of votes, if you look at them is actually quite consistent. So, hopefully, next year MelOn will consider letting International fans vote. The vast difference in the voting is a little worrying. But well, to the boys, if they win, it's a good surprise. If they don't, it's still a great run for 2010. Last note (some people's gonna hate me but I still have to say it): I'm glad 2AM is 2nd on the Best Artiste ranking AHEAD of 2PM. Again, I state, I don't hate 2PM, just that I like it that people are beginning to realise that 2AM exist and is perhaps better at 2PM. Parting note: Leave all of you with something to think about - Why is it that in Korea (this is pretty much limited to Korean voting) 2PM's popularity is 2nd to 2AM and yet there's more news about them being popular everywhere else but never on how they are doing in Korea? (insert my spew about being careful about what you read online ) Have a great afternoon everyone! It's exactly 2pm in Singapore right now. you said it all twilightelusion...said everything that i wanted to say...lol...stil FIGHTING 2AM!!
